National Independent Retailers Week

The week set aside to celebrate and promote those who own and manage the thousands of independent retail businesses around the world.


July 18-24, 2010
July 17-23, 2011
July 15-21, 2012
July 21-27, 2013


Suggestions of ways to promote this special week:
Have a sale.
Promote the event to your local newspaper so they will interview you.
Suggest your local radio or television station have a "retailer of the day" highlight.
Create a poster to place in your business that names the other independent retailers in your community.

Ideas from successful retailers:
For National Independent Retailers Week I gave out flyers to my customers for 20% off if they came in during July 17th to the 23rd.

Here is a sample of what one community did with a newspaper ad for National Independent Retailers Week.
National Independent Retailer's Week is the week containing July 21 each year. We selected this date because July 21 was the birthday of Tom Shay's grandmother. She would have been 105 in 2010!
